Vintage Japanese high quality Damascene Compact (No. 1591)

Collectible compact from the 1950s era, this compact has illustrations of scenic Japan with Mt. Fuji overlooking buildings with thatched roofs, a pagoda-like structure, a bridge and two small sailing crafts. The front is noted as made with "24 K" gold. The back is inscribed with marks in Japanese characters and numbers. Inside, there are several compartments, each closing with its own lid that snaps shut. When opened, several different cosmetics are found. A rouge with a small round sponge-like pad, a grape colored bar, possibly rouge or lipstick, a foil high quality covered bar and an empty compartment for powder. The mirror has age related wear but no cracks. Measures 3 inches in diameter.
