Nuno Felted Wool/Silk Scarf, Eco Print Dyed, high quality Eucalyptus Leaves and Seed Pods, Tussah Silk
This is a beautiful nuno felted, eco print dyed scarf. Several processes are involved in making this beautiful scarf. The first process was the nuno felting to create the scarf base. White merino wool roving and generous amounts of green tussah silk were felted onto silk chiffon. The tussah silk creates the beautiful sheen that is present throughout the scarf. The nuno felting was done in such a way that a delicate silk chiffon ruffle runs along the edges of the scarf. After the felting was finished, the second process of eco print dyeing was done. This is where plants are coaxed to release their natural dyes in such a manner that their leaf imprints are transferred to the fabric. This scarf was eco printed with several varieties of eucalyptus leaves and seed pods. On this particular scarf, the eco print dyeing is very faint. The entire scarf was finally dyed in a eucalyptus tea to create the delicate natural colors. Copper and iron mordants were used to help enhance the natural colors left by the eucalyptus.
The scarf measures approximately 60" long and 9" wide. It is soft and pliable with a great drape as can be seen in the pictures.
This is a beautiful garment high quality that is so much more than a scarf. It can be worn in a number of ways, as a fashion accessory, or as a scarf/cowl in the cool outdoors. How ever you choose to wear it, this unique, one of a kind show stopper is truly a piece of wearable art.
