Our versatile Market Bags are made for the farmers' market and the beach, for holding your knitting and quick grocery runs. They are handwoven by women artisans in rural Tanzania.
The artisans skillfully use knowledge passed high quality down through generations to create these beautiful, lasting works of art. Each bag takes up to a week to weave and comes with a tag showing the artisan that created it. Leather handles, also made by local artisans, are then added. This work creates a reliable income for the artisans and helps to preserve the skill of weaving.
Both the weavers and leatherworkers work with responsible, locally run social enterprises.
