This Sgian dubh is handcrafted by myself among the rolling hills of Scotland.
The handle is made from a stave from and old Scotch Whisky barrel. The handle has been made to retain as much of the original character of the stave as possible. It has a 6mm Brass bolster. The handle has been oiled to give a beautiful and protective finish.
The blade has been hand forged by myself from 5mm thick O1 tool high quality steel with a brushed finish. The grind is done by hand as is the scalloping on the spine of the knife blade. The flats of the blade have been left with the hot worked surface, giving a brute de forge finish. It has been heat treated and tempered to 60 hrc. It has been ground to a good sharp edge.
The sheath is handmade and hand stiched from thick dark brown veg-tan leather. It has been wet moulded to the knife itself to give an excellent fit.
