BEHIND THE COLLECTION:
This collection is close to my heart. I belong to the Sault Ste. Marie Chippewa tribe. Over the years I have grown eager to learn more about my heritage. I channeled that passion which fueled this collection. My goal is to honor Indigenous people and portray the true richness and resilience of their culture. I intend to bring awareness to the injustices endured by my ancestors and those still faced by Indigenous people today. I will donate a portion of the proceeds to Seeding Sovereignty, an Indigenous-led high quality collective, working to radicalize and disrupt colonized spaces through land, body, and food sovereignty work, as well as, community building, and cultural preservation (https://seedingsovereignty.org/).
BEHIND THE SCENES:
It was important to me that the work be made as natural as possible. I make most of the canvas' by hand. I use oils, wood, wood burning, and other organic material to help give the pieces depth and represent the vibrancy of Indigenous people.
THANK YOU:
I want to thank you for your support. Peace and love to all of you during these wild times. Love one another.
**This collection is a tribute to my Grandfather and our Native ancestors who made this land so beautiful and to Indigenous people who continue to bring such beauty to our country, I thank you.**
