A stoneware vase? Organic planter? Rustic wall hanging? All of the above. It could even hold utensils in the kitchen, brushes and pencils in the studio, and toothbrushes and paste in the bath. It's artful and functional and can hold all kinds of things: high quality long match sticks by the wood stove, straws in the dining room, candy bars in the break room, rulers, scissors, mail... whatever you need to have handy but hate taking up counter or desk space. Glazed inside to hold water, it's also a totally functional vase for fresh flowers and a planter for trailing ivy.

My Creamy Shino glaze reacts with the near-black, iron-rich clay to create a mottled, speckled, spotted, almost antiqued color with shades of ivory, tans and browns. Elegant yet natural. Modern yet rustic. Manhattan yet country. This piece shows my signature diagonal dip for a juxtaposed meeting of glossy glaze and smooth satin dark clay. In this case, I painted a portion of reddish-brown mottled color along a few edges.

It is fully glazed inside, holds water like a vase, and sports a natural knotted leather strap that simply hangs on a nail.

Size: 9” tall x 6” wide with a nice deep pocket and a substantial weight.

— Items that carry branches, antlers, leather, and string should not be submerged in water or used in dishwashers, ovens or microwaves. Wood and antler pieces attached with screws and/or the black composite epoxy are very firm. Those attached with just leather or string lashings have more give.
