These three framed "Simpson" related items would have particular interest to those of Simpson, Grindley or McKay ancestry from Scotland. The larger 19th c. oak framed print, measuring 11 3/4" x 13 1/2" is of Sir James Young Simpson. Simpson was a notable intellectual, and doctor who discovered the use of chloroform in 19th c. Scotland. He was born in 1811 and died in 1870. In 1847 he was appointed physician to Queen Victoria . There is a bust of Simpson in Westminister Abbey. On the back of this 19th c. print of Simpson is a hand written family tree beginning with an Alexander Simpson in 1755 and ending with a McKay born in 1882. The second frame, 9" x 11", is a hand colored Simpson Family Crest. The Simpson Coat of Arms "Victo Dolore" translation is "Pain Conquered". The third framed print is Mr. P. Simpson, Rugby.
