A rare antique small collector plate by Bing & Grøndahl created in 1895.
This white plate decorated in blue has an image of the 14th century medieval Queen Margrethe 1 of Denmark.
The plate was produced to commemorate the Kvinderness Udstilling fra Fortid og Nutid (the Women's Exhibition from the Past and Present).
This event celebrated the art and culture of women from the Nordic countries.
This plate was designed by the celebrated Danish porcelain artist Effie Hegermann-Lindencrone and decorated by Fanny high quality Garde both of whom worked at the Bing & Grøndahl factory and pioneered the underglaze technique which popularised their blue transparent porcelain.
It measures 13 cm in diameter and the base shows the factory mark with an incised number 2 with blue painted signatures.
This item is in reasonably good condition. There is wear visible on the foot rim and a small hairline crack shown in the final two photographs above the g in Udstilling. It is difficult to see. These imperfections are reflected in the price.
A unique item for collectors of this firm's porcelain with particular historical women's interest.
