A very good copy of this title put together with the help of the Batik Cooperatives, Cornell University, and the Batik Research Center in Jakarta.
Included is a history of the art in Indonesia with influences, of course, from other cultures, a classification of styles, and a bibliography.
The text is provided in English and Indonesian.

There are a number of printings of this title: a soft cover, a card cover, and two hardcover editions. This is the most complete and
incorporates all the detail and characteristics of each edition. The other hardcover edition has an un-illustrated cover.

Condition: very good in a strong binding. Covers are lightly to moderately worn at the corners. There is some loss to the front paste-on at the
corners next to the spine. Text is clean and free of markings. There is a bookplate from the previous owner, and a pencil note at the top corner of
the front endpaper map. A solid copy.
