Product code: RARE high quality 1905 1ST EDITION HOUSE OF MIRTH EDITH WHARTON FILM BASIS ILLUSTRATED FIRST
From 1905, this is the first edition, first issue, of The House of Mirth, by Edith Wharton. As published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York. Sized 8x5 inches, 533 pages. Illustrated with 8 full page prints by A.B. Wenzell. Bound in red cloth, gilt titles. Most copies we have seen are a mite cocked. With the owner names, Fred W. Free, and another one we high quality find hard to read. First edition, first issue with Scribner's seal to copyright page and no advertisements in the rear. Perhaps Edith Wharton's greatest book, the source for the tragic movie from 2000, with Gillian Andersen as the doomed Lily Bart. Copies of this first issue priced online at over $900.
