History for the Preservationist: Syracuse China used a stencil airbrushed technique in 1937 calling it Shadowtone. Other manufacturers developed their own versions of airbrushed patterns. This method of decorating was particularly popular in the 1950s and 1960s. Today these patterns are some of the most highly sought after pieces by collectors.

Kalberer Hotel Supply Co. begin in Portland, OR in 1945. They opened a second branch in Seattle, WA in 1946, but closed the Seattle location in 1959. They distributed Buffalo, Corning, Hall, Homer Laughlin, Jackson, Lenox, Royal Doulton and Syracuse china.
