Vintage Luisa Spagnoli Cardigan, Made in Italy Angolmere high quality Cardigan, Bright Salmon Colored 50's cardigan
Listing is ONLY for the Sweater
What: This is a vintage knit cardigan sweater. It's made by Luisa Spagnoli and from the tag research is from the 1950's. It's a bright salmon color with beautiful reddish mother of pearl buttons. It has lovely pin stripping detail in the knit. It has a ribbed knitted band at the bottom. It's made of Angolmere as shown on the tag. Just an absolutely beautiful vintage sweater!
When: Best guess is the 50's based off the style and research on the tag.
Beautiful Imperfections: It's in great vintage shape.

Shoulders: 15" taken about the middle of the seam between the sleeves. I have 16" shoulders and I feel like it fits me.
Sleeve Length: 16.5"
Everything I have listed is true vintage unless otherwise noted. Everything therefore has wear and tear and is in no way, shape or form perfect. But that is why I love vintage! All the imperfections tell a story. Just because something isn't perfect doesn't mean it doesn't have a lot of life left in it! I will to the best of my ability point out any flaws that I notice. I am not trying to hide any of the beautiful age that a piece has. I generally do not repair or alter anything, but if I have, I will state that. I use my best judgement for estimating age, but I can not guarantee that I am right! Unless otherwise stated, vintage clothing has not been laundered by me. I sell things as found. I do this to avoid unnecessary dry cleaning (saving both money and the environment) and some people prefer to hand wash instead.
Here is a little history on the company and designer I found online:
Luisa Spagnoli was the first woman to breed high quality Angora rabbits in Italy. By the early 1930s, the Spagnoli workshop had six workers who produced sweaters and shawls. Luisa passed away in 1935. Her son, Mario grew the company into an industrial concern. In the 1940s, the Luisa Spagnoli company stood out as a company that carried out the entire production cycle, from the raw materials through the garment finishing. In the 1950s, the company started using other fibers, such as wool and cotton, and they also developed and patented new fibers, such as Angolmere. In the late 1950s, the company opened its own stores. In 1960, Mario's son Lino was named Managing Director.
The Luisa Spagnoli catalogs often featured famous celebrities, such as Verna Lisi, Rhonda Fleming, and Zsa Zsa Gabor as models. The Luisa Spagnoli company is still in business today.
