Celebrate the 4th of July with this image in honor of Nathan Hale, Captain in the Continental Army and one of America's first spies. The memorial is located on the south side of the high quality Justice Department building along Constitution Ave NW, Washington, DC. This image is part of a series in which I explore the various memorials and monuments as the collective memories of the American people. Images are shot using a LensBaby lens that allows for control of the plane of focus. Images are purposefully soft focus and black and white to enhance the feeling of being a memory.
