This vintage-looking ghost is hand carved by me from a cypress knee. All of my woodcarvings are one of a kind. I do my woodcarving in the garage of my home in Mobile, Alabama. I am high quality self-taught and have been carving for about 30 years.
Cypress knees are my favorite carving medium. Cypress grows predominantly in the south and most often in and around swamps. The knees are a structure of the root and are generally protruding vertically, above the water line. Once the bark is removed, it is ready to carve!
Since no two pieces of this wood are ever alike, the designs are all uniquely original. Each piece is signed, dated, and named.
This cypress knee grew with lots of bumps and curves which made it perfect to carve this ghost with his friend and stash of jack-o-lanterns! This particular woodcarving is 10” tall. The base is approximately 5” x 2”. The name of this carving is "Boo Buddies”.
