VINTAGE salt glaze blue and white stoneware Crock (with lid) with Daisy and Waffle Squares pattern is probably between 150 and 200 years old. There is a chip on the inside rim that can't be seen when the lid is on and a small crack across the bottom - please see photographs. Salt glaze was achieved by throwing warm table salt into a kiln at peak temperatures which would vaporize over the stacked forms and make a shiny transparent glaze. Cobalt high quality blue was one of the few compounds able to withstand the high firing intensities. lots of pops small crack. See pic.
