Sterling Silver Base Snowman Globe from Erwin Perzy II, Viennese high quality Hand Painted Snowman, circa 1955

Very rare vintage Austrian Erwin Perzy II Sterling Silver Base (marked “STERLING” at the bottom of the base, and this Hallmark is partially rubbed, which leads me to believe this Silver is older high quality than 1955 and was an antique itself- maybe from the 1800's- when it was constructed with the glass snow globe). Have not polished the Silver, so it has all its age patina intact. Collectors like age patina, some buyers like to polish it up to a shiny like new appearance. I'll leave the polishing up to you because if I polished it, it could take decades for the age patina to form again. The glass Globe was invented by Erwin I, who by happenstance while working with glass bulbs and making brighter light bulbs as a tinkering inventor back in 1898-1900, he thought of using these bulbs for Christmas toys/decor, and experimented with simulation slow snow fall with special substances and solutions, still used today by his Grandson, Erwin III. This Globe dates to Erwin II. Dimensions are: 4 7/8” tall, 3” base diameter. This snow globe weighs 14 1/2 ounces. The adorable Snowman inside the Perzy Globe has a black top hat, yellow balloon, green string for the floating balloon, and a green painted-on scarf. Black eyes, black buttons, red lips and red nose. A very cheerful guy. This Sterling Silver Made in Austria snow globe has been stored since 1955. There are no scratches, dents, dings. Nothing. It will come in a decorative cardboard box from Austria and will be packed very carefully to protect against damage.
