Tokoname ware produced the Chita peninsula in Aichi Prefecture. Tokoname kiln began to produce unglazed earth ware during the end of the Heian period. Tokoname ware includes everyday utensils such as the Yama Chawan, Lipped Bowls, Pots and Jars which were distributed in Eastern and Western Japan. From the later half of the Edo period, Tokoname kiln began to produce tea utensils. - Quote from A Dictionary of Japanese Art Terms

Osako Mikio (1940-1995) born in Usa, Oita.
He studied pottery under the great mentors Sawada Yoshiharu (1909-1994) and Ezaki Issei (1918-1992) at Tokoname Ceramic Research Institute from 1968 to 1982.
He started his own kiln, Hibara kiln in 1982.
He got many prizes, and he is one of great modern ceramic artists.
He was METI-designated traditional crafts person and a member of Japan Kogei Association.
Her father loved Osaka Mikio and collected some his works.
It is pretty rare.
