Deepavali, or Diwali is festival of lights. It is a festival when Goddess Laxmi is worshipped. It is believed that Goddess Laxmi visits every home and brings prosperity and wealth. Usually Laxmi puja is performed in the morning. But Diwali Laxmi puja is performed after sun-set. The first puja is performed to Lord Ganesha, followed by Goddess Laxmi Puja. Five faced diyas or lights are lit with cow ghee and Goddess high quality Laxmi is worshipped by offering flowers and sweets as naivedya. After the puja is performed houses and offices are decorated with diyas for illumination.
