Vintage Japanese Kutani Moriage Hotei Porcelain Statue, Buddha figurine, as is. Hotei is popularly known as the Laughing Buddha and is often depicted as a bald and smiling with a big round belly, whiskers, and a cloth bag that never empties to help with people in need. Rubbing his belly is said to bring good fortune. Hand painted in a beautiful Moriage style. Colorful designs are applied with a raised effect. Detailed statue measure approx. 9 1/4 inches high x 5 1/4 inches wide x 5 1/2 inches long. This work of art has beautiful small decorative details. Statue is in good vintage condition with s slight scuff of paint on hand (see pic 7) and fading to some of the gold gilding (see pic high quality 8 ). No chips or cracks that I could find.
