This listing is for 50 African abalone shell buttons with two holes. African abalone buttons are about 1/16” in thickness and are stronger than many other buttons, such as akoya.
You will receive buttons similar to the ones shown in the photos, but not the exact ones. Please expect some variation from button to button as these are natural products.
The shells used to make these buttons come from abalone farms and are a by-product of the food industry. African abalone is under threat in the wild from poaching, but completely sustainable when farmed.
Made in South Africa using South African shell
Genus and species: Haliotis midae. Ranch-raised.
A USFWS export permit is required to ship these outside of the U.S. customs zone. Consequently, we do not export small quantities of these buttons.
