Hello and thank you for stopping by. This is just one of the few pipe accessories I currently have up, He we have a cool item. This is a German Black Forest carved bear ashtray/pipe rest/stand/holder. This thing is in great shape but looks like he has lost part of an arm. I have seen similar ones that have a brass or aluminum ashtrays that fits in the middle. I tried several that I from other Black Forest carved items, but none fit appropriately. I don't have any idea on dating for this one, if I had to guess I would say early to mid-1900's as that seems to be the common time frame. I got this one directly from Germany, but the previous owner could only say that it had been in his family's home since he could remember. All in all, a great piece and as you can see it work well in its purpose. This thing is just so cool, the eyes look like they are looking right at you. As for pipe high quality sizes/shapes that this one will accept, this is pretty open and can even fit large pipes. I took a few pictures for examples. This piece is cool all on its own and would make just as cool of display piece.
