Item: Beautifully decorated oval silver-plate serving dish with cover. Made in 1899 by A.G. Dufva Material = Silver plate (nickel silver) Origin = Sweden; hallmarked on bottom. Period = Victorian 1899 Measurements = 9 1/4 inches long by 7 inches wide by 2 inches deep × high quality 5 1/2" tall Condition = Excellent Antique condition with normal wear. Beautifully made...Heavy, 2 3 lbs Axel Gabriel Dufva (1822-1897) was born in the goldsmith family. In 1847 after the apprentice he was declared a master craftsman. Soon after that he founded a silver-plate factory in Stockholm, one of the first in Sweden. After his death his sons Harald Gabriel and John Helmer continued his business until 1936.
