Product code: Suffragette, 1910, Restrung, HTF, Madame Alexander, Vintage 10" Doll, high quality Through the Decades, Victorian, Hat, COA, Box, Wrist Tag, Paperwork

Suffragette, 1910, Restrung, HTF, Madame Alexander, Vintage 10" Doll, Through the Decades, Victorian, Hat, COA, Box, Wrist Tag, Paperwork is circa 1999, Through the Decades Collection, Limited Edition number 577/2200. Original box is in good condition with clear label, nice overall finish and shape, minimal shelf wear, nice box for age. Original price tag $109.95 affixed to box front. (NOTE: Doll descriptive details in 2nd paragraph). Restrung in 2021 with elastic cord. Restringing typically costs $20.00 and is seldom present in the vintage market. Hat is still sealed in plastic bag and stapled to box liner. I received this doll with the plastic still over her high heel shoes and bag reached waist level under skirt, so I am confident she was never out of the box. Because her head was tilted to the side, I restrung her and she is like new. Photos are of the only other of this doll I have sold and compares favorably in every regard. Hair retains original set and hairnet. I have lifted the hairnet off her face and secured it over the bun only, so she is display ready. This doll is relatively hard to find complete and in this lovely condition. All garments, undergarments, hat, as well as all lace button stud and ribbon trims, shoes and shoe soles are exemplary. Please study the photos to confirm description. NOTE: As with all shop dolls in high heels, doll stand high quality is included.

Women suffragists in the USA gained the right to vote in 1920, using public, peaceful protest as their avenue toward success. Madame Alexander has chosen an ensemble faithful to the fashion of the era, with an added patriotic twist in the chosen color palette and prominent bodice banner. Made of a lovely oxford cloth stripe, her long jacket is open in front with fold-over collar extending to the waist of the open front. Elbow length sleeves, collar and waist, as well as skirt hem and side offset skirt panel, have an edge trim band of the same fabric cut on the bias, which adds emphasis and visual interest. Her long, narrow profile skirt under-layer was sewn with horizontal stripes, while the stylish side-offset top layer has a curved edge and the fabric is turned vertically. Narrow, red cotton trim bands are employed throughout the design, adding a crisp element and emphasizing those diminutive button studs which accent the skirt's design beautifully. Lace softens her tailored look and adds a feminine appeal, used along the rounded neckline, sleeve edges and for her gathered bodice jabot. Red satin high heel shoes and white shimmer opaque hosiery, along with her fabulous wide brim hat, complete her look with flair! Pity the men who had to try, unsuccessfully, to withstand the logic and determination of all the admirable women who bore the torch for women's voting equality!

MY MISSION: I provide a doll for you that is fully ready for display on arrival at your home, beautiful and sturdy. Any flaws I detect which I could not remedy will be documented in the listing and doll priced accordingly. I keep extensive computer files on each listing with doll and box images.)The boxes, being the original homes for the dolls, are in variable condition, dependent on the original owner's care and storage. I will always mention box condition with the listing, or sleep eyes that open manually.

MY PROCESS: I remove from the box to re-style the hair and inspect/correct for anything that might be remiss. I feel this step is more important than listing "never removed from box." My patrons will know there will be no loose snaps, no tangled locks, damaged apron strings, no fragile, weakened rubber bands, ( I re-string when needed) no stained or faded clothing or problems with undergarments, no necklaces trapped in the neck or tresses. I restring with elastic cord, the preferred archival choice of "doll doctors."

MY PRICES: I calculate on: How readily available (or, conversely, hard to find,) whether complete with all accessories, my costs, my labor, condition of restored doll returned to box after completing the work. NOTE: Restringing a vintage doll adds value and extends doll life.
