Vintage / antique wooden vanity makeup box.
Hand painted wood, three lids, five compartments,
a mirror and little accessories tray.
Chippy and crackled ivory to white paint
on the outside, all black inside.
Bottom is lined with glass.
Early 1900's, no mark of maker.

Very sturdy, weighs 6.25lbs
Delightful floral and swag details,
hand painted portrait of lady with a hat,
the intact mirror is a little cloudy with some
silver loss.
The lids are deep and serve to put things
in when they are open.
Aside from the obvious wear from a lot of
years and use, the only damage is
a corner of the glass bottom is cracked,
but in place.
The wood on the lids and bottom is
pieced together, the joints are very visible.
The hinged mirror snaps in place within the lid,
pulls out with a tiny knob, and rests on a groove
onto the front of the box.
The removable little tray rests and slides
on a recessed area in the center third.
It has some damage
from the mirror knob resting on it.
The wooden dividers come out, making it
easy to clean. The glass also comes out.
There is a lingering musty aroma of perfume,
not very strong, but evident.
I have thoroughly cleaned the inside,
and lightly wiped the outside.
Lots of fun details as to how this was made
and painted.
It is not designed for travel, no locks or clasps.
