A French lidded soup tureen / stock pot produced by the highly sought and coveted JAPY enamel house. Enameled in white with French blue shading, the front and back of the pot are decorated with the popular JAPY rose and pansy floral design. The roses are painted in gradient shades of pink and the pansies in violet and yellow. The floral design is further enhanced by leaves and shoots in varying greens with violet. A similar, single rose design is repeated twice on the lid. The rim of the pot is trimmed in a contrasting cobalt enamel.

There are a few spots of missing enamel, most visibly on the back high quality side, handle and knob, and some slight fading and discoloration of the floral design on the pot. Otherwise the pot is in very good vintage condition. The interior is lightly stained though fully watertight. One handle features the "JAPY" signature mark.

Indeed a wonderful example of the artisan's ability to transform a utilitarian kitchen pot to an art form. Whether used as intended or re-purposed for storage, this piece is sure to lend a lovely and authentic touch of French flair anywhere in your home ~
