Small French high quality confit jar/Stoneware jar/Antique confit pot/Vintage grease pot/Kitchen decor/Plant pot/Utensil holder/French farmhouse crock

A darling little antique French grease pot with its lid, in traditional brown glaze. The slope sided lid is glazed around the edges, the flat top being left plain, unglazed. The lid would have been held in place by string taken over the top and tied off through the purpose made holes in the top of the handles. The ridged handles themselves are very pleasing in their form, with the bases pressed against the sides of the jar, as if by aid of a fingertip. The inside is glazed. These jars were used for conserving meats packed in grease and/or salt (before refrigerators). This one is particularly nice because of its diminutive size. It would fit in most anywhere and could be used for storing items in the kitchen or bathroom, as a planter or just as lovely decoration

Condition:
Good.
The lid and body glaze are very slightly different in colour. As they were made separately it is not uncommon to find them not quite matching in shade and colour. Please have a look at the photographs for a better idea of condition.
