I, and my brothers and sister, were born and raised in Japan during the 1950s and 1960s; our parents were missionaries. During that time we and our mother collected many unique Japanese antiques. My 95-year-old mother, who continued to collect antiques in Japan until my parents' retirement in 1989, is finally giving up some of her treasures.

I absolutely adore this vintage Japanese plate with a dark bluish-grey landscape scene. I have never before seen this shade of high quality blue in vintage Japanese porcelain, and I find it captivating. think it's fairly modern, probably mid 20th century. The writing on this plate suggests that it was made in Aomori Prefecture. It's in perfect condition.
