Fabulous RARE vintage diamond cut canary glass ashtray & a deck of sealed cards "used in the actual Sands Hotel and Casino". Also included is 2 Sands swizzle sticks from this Fabulous old Casino.
The ashtray measures 4.5" inches in diameter, and is in Excellent "used vintage" condition. No cracks or chips, but a few scratches on the bottom, not bad for being more than 60 years old! The Roadside Logo screen print looks perfect, until you hold it up in the light, then you can see the scratches, but just looking at it you can't tell. (See photos)
The Sands Hotel opened in 1952 and closed in 1996. It was the 7th Resort to open on The Strip! It had a few owners over the years, one of which was Howard Hughes from 1967-1981. It was sold in 1996, and on November 26th, 1996 it was imploded and demolished!
The Venetian opened as a 35 story Mega Resort with 3036 rooms where The Sands had formally been, and it became the largest AAA Five Diamond Landmark in North America. They have since added the Palazzo as well.
