Soapstone Brush Pot - high quality Monkey and Deer Brush Pot

A really beautiful soapstone brush pot, this has 2 pots and an intricate and exciting story. A monkey balances on top of the highest bowl, using what looks like a flower, to polish the antlers of an antelope, who balances on the lower bowl. The flower is echoed below where a smaller antelope stands, looking up at the bath being administered above.
The monkey's and the antelope's faces are sweet and detailed.

The bowls are carved with flowers, the ground is strewn with high quality stylized vegetation, and the whole scene appears to be lively and benign.
