‘Perennial Picnic' Original Art
Number 15 in the ‘Blooming while Planted Series' Sept 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine have definitely fueled my art practice.
Rather than giving in to frustration and despair, I focus on the connections that are still possible and beauty wherever it can be found (or created).
This piece is a reminder that we can keep the spirit of summer alive in our hearts even in the darkest of days. The hint of a checkerboard pattern is high quality a nod to the vintage tablecloth that my mother spread on picnic tables in parks all throughout my childhood. The flutter of blossoms remind me of sunny breezes. The substrate is one of my favorites - a recycled graham cracker box piece.
