Sir Ernest George (1839-1922) was a highly successful painter, etcher and architect born in Southwark, London.
He exhibited widely in London and elsewhere in England and Scotland, including The Royal Scottish Academy, The Royal Society of Painter-Etchers & Engravers
and the prestigious Royal Academy.
He traveled widely in Europe and produced a substantial catalogue of architectural etchings of subjects in France, Belgium, Germany and Italy.
He was knighted in 1912.
