Product code: Jasco Thermic 72 Classic Balsa Tow-line high quality Glider Partial Kit with parts, plans and instructions TMRC Tom Martin Radio Control

The Jasco Thermic 72 (72" span) kit is precision laser cut to match the plan specifications for balsa quality, weight and dimension. Harder balsa is used for wing spars while tail and wing tip formers and ribs are from lighter weight balsa. Because the parts are all completely cut, you will only need glue and sandpaper and small weight for nose to complete construction per the included plans but a few hand tools such as a sharp modeling plane will reduce the time to shape leading and trailing edges, etc. Plan is one sheet approx. 36" x 48" and includes all patterns used to draw the digital CADD cutting file that we cut from.

The Thermic series of towline gliders from drawn by Frank Zaic in the 1940s and later adapted in the 50's represent the top aspirational level of balsa modelling for millions of baby-boomers while in their youth. Due to their high quality and lightweight construction they are still popular and easily adapt themselves to micro radio control and electric motor for enjoyment on the slope or field.

NOTE: Rather than solid block balsa pod section, I've engineered the kit to have a built up pod to accept radio control gear if desired but still balance out with nose weight for free flight.

Kit includes laser cut balsa spars, fuselage formers, trailing edges, hardwood boom and wing, stab, and tail tip formers and plan. Modeler will need to cut strip balsa stringers and high quality longerons from the remaining pieces of balsa (edges of laser cut sheets) or purchase several pieces each of stringer stock. If you intend to try launching with lightweight hi-start or fly in higher wind conditions, I suggest cutting and using replacement spars from quality straight-grained fir or spruce.
