This gorgeous charcuterie/serving board is made of rare Box Elder wood with crotch grain and natural edge. The red coloration in Box Elder is due to a pigment found in a fungus (Fusarium negundi) that commonly afflicts the tree often as a result of some kind of stress that “wounds” the tree – sometimes a bug infestation (Box Elder Beetles), or long-term bending stress caused by wind or heavy snow, among other things. Much of the reddish coloring becomes a more subdued pink or brown/gray upon drying. This board still has some red grain visible which makes it so uniquely attractive.
The grain in this board is amazing! It will artfully show off your meats, cheese, and fruits, or breads! Use for entertaining or a quiet dinner for two. Or, they make wonderful gifts for weddings, holidays, hostess gifts, or housewarming gifts.
The wood is hand selected and lovingly crafted into a board that shows off the unique grain and features of the woodgrain.
Board measures 22" x 18" x 1 1/4" with 1/4" feet, wood itself is approximately 1" thick.
