Fabulous antique Victorian embossed leather photo album with 34 photos. Selling AS FOUND.
This album is from the family of Judge Robert H. Buckingham and Sarah J. Buckingham, from Sacramento/ Yolo Counties. The photos appear to be from the late 1800s, and are mostly from old Sacramento area studios. I noted a photo of a woman in full Victorian mourning attire.
There are 34 antique photos, some cabinet-size, some smaller. Many have names written on back, such as Sarah J. Buckingham and C.A. Fisk, O.A. Lovdal, F.L. White, Mather, Manchester, etc. I am unable to decipher the names on some of them. There are MANY blank slots within the album.
As pictured, 2 funeral bouquets were pressed in the pages. One for Norman L. White, dated I think 1956, and one for Mattie M. Manchester, 1950. There is also a coupon order for Hoods Seeds from Miss. E.J. White.
Several old Sacramento photo studios are high quality represented here. EG: S.A. Wolfe, Asher's Opposition Gallery (opened in 1877 by Julius Asher on J Street), Hodson Photographer and more.
Great Sacramento history!
The album measures 11" x 8" x 2.75", and it is HEAVY. It weighs 5 LBS 8 OZ. I can ship it in a USPS medium flat rate Priority box, but there won't be room for much padding.
CONDITION NOTES: Album is in POOR condition. Completely split apart. Both covers have separated from the binding. Most of the photos look great, age considered. Selling AS FOUND. Lots of history here!
Selling AS FOUND, NO RETURNS. Additional photos available on request.
