Beautiful engraved floral scrollwork with blue stone. Mirror clear and intact. Description taken from Ruby Lane Vintage: After WWII, many Americans started traveling again for pleasure and often they would bring back souvenirs from each of their stop overs. Thus, these wonderful cases found there way high quality home to the United States. This one has a gorgeous chased scroll-y floral design and the 'catch' or clasp is set with a vivid blue stone . As you can see from the photos when you slide the clasp upwards, the lipstick part slides up as well and then the hidden hinged mirror appears. The 800 Italy touch stamp appears on the top portion of the lipstick holder so to see it you have to remove it completely. The last photo shows its position. If you are not aware, the number 800 refers to the silver content. It means 800 out of 1000 parts pure silver content. 925 is the 'sterling' standard. 800 is often referred to as 'continental' silver.
