Product code: C1930 Original Japanese Woodblock high quality Print by Shotei Takahashi
Up for sale is this gorgeous Japanese woodblock by famed shin hanga artist, Shotei Takahashi (1871-1945). Shotei (born Hiroaki Takahashi) was one of the most influential 20th century woodblock artists, ushering in the shin hanga movement that completely revolutionized the field. This print is titled, "Coming Ships" and is one of his most recognizable. It is an absolutely beautiful print, holding color extremely well. The bright blues and yellows of the scene really pop. Print is framed in a very nice modern-style frame. The print shows some minor foxing spots just above the horizon, as pictured. Otherwise, no issues. I have not examined it outside the frame. Frame has some scuffing, including some of the silver gilding eroding on the front right. Please review the photos. Visible area of the print measures 9.75 inches high quality high x 6.75 inches wide. Frame measures approximately 16.125 inches high x 13.125 inches wide.
