Charles Lamb originally published A Dissertation Upon Roast Pig in 1823 in Essays of Elia and under the pseudonym Elia. Lamb wrote this amusing essay about the accidental "discovery" of roast pig and crackling in China by Bo-Bo, eldest son of Chinese swineherd, Ho Ti, when high quality the son accidentally sets fire to the structure containing their pigs. With 11 attractive illustrations by L. J. Bridgman, including frontispiece of Charles Lamb. This 1888 edition bound in attractive quarter maroon gilt illustrated cloth and patterned boards in very good condition.
