The sweetest soft stuffed handmade Native American doll. Limbs and head are separate pieces and sewn to the body in a beautiful brown cotton. Hands and feet have hand stitching to show high quality separation of fingers and toes. Cotton clothing is sewn with such detail and has multiple layers. Face is a combination of sewn eyebrows and nose, and glued mouth and eyes. Black yarn hair.
This is one of a rare collection of six Native American dolls. It's hard to know exactly when they were made but guessing from the fabric used for their clothing, I would say in the 1970s. Each one has a paper pinned to them explaining which tribe they represent. This makes me think they were on display at a small museum.
This doll represents the Pueblo tribe. She is wearing a cotton calico print shirt and eyelet under skirt with a blue wool wrap and ceremonial sash wrapped around her waist. One strand of seed bead necklace as well as a silver colored bead necklace. White felted moccasins and leggings that have a tan sole. Her black yarn hair is in two side buns.
