Fudge caramel and white metal bedside adjustable wall light sconce lamp high quality mid century modern Dutch design 1960s 1970s Anvia

In this listing we are pleased to offer a greatly coloured all metal adjustable wall light from the 1960s or 1970s.

Perfect lamp for next to the bed.

The lamp is made of a white coated wall fixture and a caramel coated shade with folded rims.

The shade can hinge to make the lamp shine upward (on the wall for atmosphere) or downwards for seeing better/reading and of course any position in between.

When hinged completely up (to shine downwards) the shade aligns with the shape of the wall fixture, which is a nice design touch.

The lamp is fixed to the wall with 2 screws for which there are two key hole cut outs on the back side.

This lamp is not marked although there is a leftover sticker label on the bulb holder.

We do not know which manufacturer made it. We do know it looks very similar to the model 7102 that Jan Hoogervorst designed for Anvia Almelo in the 1960s.

It is said that Jan Hoogervorst cornered the design of these metal wall lights that were made of two connected metal sheets.

After Mr Hoogervorst many lamp manufacturers made their own versions and variations. This lamp is a perfect example of that. We have other models for sale in our other listings.

The lamp takes 1 E14 size bulb with screw type fitting. The black colored bulb holder on this lamp is still the original. The lamp comes complete with the also still original lamp cord of 117 centimeters / 46.06 inches. It has an inline switch at 39 centimeters / 15.35 inches from the lamp and 2-pin flat European plug. The switch and plug are new replacements by us.

It high quality is designed for a 220/230 volt network. With adjustments it can be used in countries with a different voltage and or plug.

Condition:
Good to very good overall condition.

This is a used wall lamp of around 50 to 60 years of age with a number of signs of use.

The lamp is damage free: no dents, no rim deformations, no colored staining.

Apart from the plug and switch the lamp is in fully original condition and has not been repainted or retouched anywhere.

The shade hinges with very good resistance, which means it can handle all positions perfectly. For a lamp of this age, that is a sign of the quality make.

The caramel brown color is consistent throughout and still has a good gloss.

There are light rubbing scratches from cleaning all over the shade but these can only be seen up close and under a certain angle. On the middle rim on the left there is a bit of light paint wear through rubbing. This is visible.

Lastly there a few scuffs and dots here and there although they are limited in size.

The white coated wall fixture is in a similar condition. The white coating is a bit patchy on the side. there are many scuffs on the rims although the latter do not stand out in daily use. On the inside there are also rubbing traces, scuffs, an incidental stain and age discoloration. These do not stand out much as they are on the inside.

The bulb holder is in very good undamaged condition with only normal age signs. The same can be said of the wiring which has normal age discolouration to cream white as well as a few scuffs and dots here and there.

The wiring is slightly darker closer to the lamp.

As stated the switch and plug are new replacements.
